gotta love a project

so i can't sing or dance (not that that stops me trying out my best mc hammer moves) but i do love a project.. a while ago i did a swap project with some pillowcases.. these are the ones i designed.. for anyone who doesn't know where magnolia bakery from sex and the city fame is, now you do.. and those little cupcakes are goood!

i'm thinking about doing another swap project.. could be pillowcases again or something else maybe.. let me know if you're in..

market goodies

don't you just love it when you find new goodies?? i went to the magnolia square markets today at malvern town hall and bought a stunning necklace from klei ..too many choices there, but i'm very happy with my final pick. also picked up a couple of screenprinted tshirts from hamb and a cute little piggy singlet from heavenly creatures for muppet.. the singlet has detachable angel wings on the back.. too cute!

south melbourne find

ok, so most mofos in the know already know about st.ali cafe in south melbourne, but most don't know about their sensational new treat.. cheesecake brownie.. and what a treat it is! sooooo good. we also bought some of their nicaragua coffee beans, mostly because it was fun to say "nicaragua" over brazil or peru etc.

i also love the huge scale eames house-of-cards style timber dividers that they've made.. going into st.ali always makes me feel like i'm in a grown up cubby house and makes me smile when i remember the turf wars we used to have as kids over our various cubby houses. important at the time :)

goodbye moby

vietnam. home of the mighty mekong and delicate lotus flower.. and apparently the first choice destination to call on a stolen mobile! MY stolen moby. bummed.

kingsley's creations

the talented kingsley strikes again! sewing up a storm on the weekend for a market stall.. keep your peepers on my link to her etsy shop.. i especially love the photo of kingsley working out in the studio.. made me happy looking out there and seeing lots of activity. busy.

eames on holiday

a while ago now, my friend leo was kind enough to lend me an eames eiffel base side chair while i waited for mine to arrive for a special birthday present.. then let's just say i kept it a little longer because it was nice for each of them to have a friend.. by the time it was well + truly time to return leo's chair i thought i should send it back with photos of how it enjoyed it's time with us. silliness.

rocky road heaven

lulu gave me her recipe for rocky road a few years ago and it has never failed me.. so easy and so, so yummy.

500grams good quality chocolate (melted)

1 bag marshmellows (cut in halves)

half cup coconut

half cup crushed peanuts

mix all ingredients together, plonk into tray and set aside to set. Y-U-M yum!

i love an old fashioned afternoon tea.. who doesn't? and i never really trust someone who says they don't like sweets.. but i do like to add a modern touch and put treats out on my pink poketo plates. fun.

socks + thongs

socks and thongs. it looks wrong, so wrong. but you know, it works. i'm always wearing socks around inside and inevitably i need to go outside a hundred times a day.. i need something from the studio.. have to bring the washing in (yes from the iconic hills hoist).. forgot to get the other something from the studio i went out to get the first time... need the gardening gloves from the shed.. water the tomatoes, etc etc and who has time to stop and put real shoes on? i think i might ask kingsley to sew a split in all my socks to allow for thongage... unless anyone knows where i can buy socks with a thong allowance??

culgoa coincidence

5t just told me that while he was busy voting for restaurants on urban spoon and writing a review on cirque cafe up in brisbane, he wanted to add a link to a photo of the culgoa silo (part of his review story).. anyway he searched the interneti high and low and decided on one he found on flickr.. only to realise that it was from good ol' captain kk's flickr photos.. there you go.

p.s. does anyone else think norm the life-be-in-it character looks like bill clinton playing for the mighty tigers?

new desk old desk

so sitting at my (v. messy) desk in our new place, i'm thinking about how i used to sit at my desk in our old place on fitzroy street.. do i miss watching the world go by and going across the street for the best croissants in melbourne for breakfast? absolutely. am i sorry we moved to the burbs? absolutely not :)

for those that know me well.. you may find this post rather uncharacteristically nostalgic, but even captain kk looks back occassionally, even if my motto is "it's all about the future". over + out.

i love this book.. i picked it up on my travels to n'awlins a couple of years ago, but i have since seen it in local book stores.. along with really creative spaces that have a good dose of mid century style and stories of the people behind them, there are lots of gorgeous line drawings that set the locale. happiness.

who doesn't love a bunch of fresh flowers? but i'm not sure what i enjoy more.. when they're a full fresh bunch or after a week when the first few flowers start to drop off and it's time to break them up and rearrange to get the most out of them.. what would i be if i wasn't an architect? you guessed it, i'd love to have a crack at being a florist. this bunch was given to me by one of my new mummy's group friends.. i had the mums + bubs over at my place last week and i forgot to take a photo of all the bambinos lying on the floor together.. next time.

5t30

so where to start? well, for those that know me, you know how i love an event and the last big event we had was terry (aka 5t)'s 30th.. we filled the back yard with light bulbs strung overhead and dimmed so that just the filament glowed. 5t wasn't convinced about how it was going to look before we started, so i did a quick concept sketch (can you tell i'm an architect who has to plan everything, even if the perspective is out a bit??) anyway, the party has been and gone and the lights were sadly returned.. i really miss them. magic.
